I’ve been writing for a long time, mostly fiction. I have an MA (with Distinction) in Creative Writing, and have had two short stories come third in national contests, and one long-listed in an international contest.  I have taught Creative Writing to adults and children. I live in Scotland with my husband, kids and cats. Before writing I worked at a variety of occupations, including fashion design and teaching. More recently I worked as a volunteer counsellor on a helpline for parents and I have also attended seminars in Non-Violent Communication and The Sedona Method. I love to learn from others who have successfully overcome obstacles in life or found a way to turn their lives around and live life to the full, and I love to pass on what I have learned. Therefore my favourite type of article to write are those that offer ways to enhance the quality of life. I write on a variety of other topics, including: Healthy Eating, parenting

Although some of my hubs are serious and some more fun, where possible I to try to combine both, since the serious side of life seems easier to take with a good sprinkling of humour.

Five of my hubs have been selected as Hub of the Day. Some of these are:

My first novel, Drawings in Sand, is available in the Amazon Kindle Store.  This is set in Aberdeen, Scotland, and is about Stella, a mother and teacher, who faces the effects her drunkenness has on her young daughter, and whose search for healing takes her deep into disturbing secrets in her family’s past. It is a story of transformation and redemption.

This is what Sherry Stunes, ( Poohgranma on HubPages) has to say about my novel:

I just purchased your book, "Drawing in Sand" - I HAD to after reading the free chapters. It was like trying to stop eating peanuts or chips; I had to have more. I was able to identify with the characters immediately and follow them without confusion thanks to the way you wrote the story.  The emotions shine through without need for explanation, which many authors tend to do and I think it insults the intelligence of the readers.
